Utah
🏂UTAH
I never imagined I would visit Salt Lake City, Utah but it was a
better trip than I could have imagined. From the views, to the people and restaurants,
Utah was a low key place that I enjoyed.
In March of this year (2019), I traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah for
a weekend to visit my cousin. As I was visiting a family member, I did not stay at a hotel.
Highlights: First off, Salt Lake City had mountain views that I have
never seen in my life. Yes, I have been to Vancouver BC but the mountain views
in Salt Lake City were spectacular! What I enjoyed most were the views of the
snow filled mountains as it looked like a post card!
All winter sports are a hit in Utah because of the mountains. I met someone on my flight that was traveling to Utah for a ski trip.

As my cousin attended Utah State University, her and a friend
(native of Utah) were able to show us around the city. Salt Lake City is known
to be a “University city” therefore most of the action seems to be near or on
the university grounds. If you ever get a chance to visit Salt Lake City, I would suggest to
do a tour of the school as it was very nice and modern.
A well-known event that occurs every year in Utah (Park City to be
specific) is the Sundance Film Festival. This city was about a 45-minute drive
away from Salt Lake City but let me tell you the sights along the drive were beautiful.
I had an opportunity to visit Park City and the town is very nice and “cottage country/ski
resort like”. There were a lot of boutiques, restaurants and other things to
do/see.
Another great place to visit was downtown Salt Lake City as there
is a lot of historic sites, which are very cool! I had a chance to visit (the
outside) the Temple (Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder Day Saints) which was nice.
Lastly, the night life was fun! Again as it is a “university city”
it was very busy!
For transportation: Just like most places, there are Uber/Taxis as
well as there is a transit system; above ground subway line and buses The transportation
appeared to be very convenient.
Food 7/10 – I tried 3 different restaurants on this trip; Italian, Vietnamese
and American Cuisine, which all were good.
Fun fact: 62% of the population is Utah is Mormon.
Pros: The views of the mountains are AMAZING – that alone made the
trip GREAT!
There is a good amount
of things to do/see – I enjoyed the historic sites.
People were very friendly.
Cons: Small Cities. Although I only visited Salt Lake and Park City 4
days was enough for me!
