Montreal

MONTREAL⛄

Calling all my French speakers!! Ok…. you do NOT have to speak French to visit Montreal but it is cool if you do! (like me hehe) Montreal is a beautiful city in Quebec, filled with beautiful churches, cool architecture, awesome nightlife, good shopping and amazing restaurants.

Hotel: Intercontinental 4.5 stars

Highlights: Over the years, I have been to Montreal a number of times the last being in January 2020. If you love Canadian food, checking out festivals, hockey and shopping Montreal is the place for you! My favorite place in Montreal is “Vieux-Port” (Old Port) which is filled with restaurants, bars, a Ferris wheel and tourist sites. Vieux-Port reminds me a lot of Europe due to the architecture and history. If you want to shop Sainte Catherine Street West is a main street in Montreal which has amazing shopping. The Eaton Center is the main shopping mall along that street.
I love the nightlife in Montreal as there are numerous lounges and clubs with different genres of music. " Les trois minots " also had a great/funny karaoke night.

Things to check out: Hockey game or climbing Mont-Royal (the view is amazing).
Also, if you are up for winter sports and a road trip, I would suggest heading to Mont Tremblant! It is about 1.5 hours away from Montreal.

Transportation: A car is not mandatory as the train, bus and Uber are available. I personally enjoyed walking to explore the city in the day or the train. You can get a weekend train/bus pass for 14$ from Friday evening to Monday morning.

Food: 8/10 – There are A LOT of good restaurants but most importantly you must try things that Montreal is known for such as bagels, smoked meat and OF COURSE you need to try a poutine.

Three of my favorite restaurants are listed below:

La Banquise (24 hours)
Dunn’s Famous (24 hours)
Reuben's Deli & Steakhouse

Pros: Restaurants, Shopping and Architecture.
Cons:  Dress appropriately as it can be very cold depending on the season.
