Greece
GREECE💙
The beautiful Athens and Santorini,
Greece.
Hotels: The Stanley Hotel 4 star -
Athens
The Santorini Palace 4.5 star–
Santorini
Athens was very quiet in the evening - the whole city shut down.
I could not find any entertainment. (could have been the time of year)
If you do not like to walk - there is A LOT of walking and hills/stairs in Greece.
Although the weather was warm – it was their low season therefore the pools were not heated and the sun could not keep the water warm.

Greece was the third leg of my Europe
trip in October 2016.
Highlights: Athens was nice but very
rural. I was only in Athens for a day and as I was extremely tired from
traveling for a week, I explored, ate at the hotel in the day and a low key
restaurant down the street from the hotel in the evening. Late in the evening,
I hung out on of the rooftop of the hotel – there was a pool which was nice but
it was too cold to swim. The rooftop of the hotel had a nice view of the
Pantheon which was lit up. As I did not have time to see it in person, it
was awesome to observe it from the hotel.
The following day, I arrived in Santorini which had spectacular views that I
have never seen before! While in Santorini for 3 days, I did a lot of waking,
exploring and eating (duh, LOL). Also was able to do a bus tour that went to
the highest point of Santorini as well as it explained the history of the
volcanic island. In Santorini, I took the bus and a taxi to the
town which was 7 minutes away (east or west) where there were restaurants and a
lot of shops.
Recommendations: If you are in Santorini go to OIA to see
a sunset as it is a major event.
Food: 10/10 - I learned that "lemon potatoes" they
serve here in Canada are NOT an authentic Greek dish and they were not sold
anywhere. As well as an authentic Greek salad does not have lettuce!
Pros:
The food was delicious, fresh and cheap. (the fancier
restaurants with views were $$)
The views were incredible and unforgettable.
The locals were very nice and the majority of the locals spoke English.
The weather was warm.
