Bahamas
The Bahamas ☀
In 2014, I traveled to the beautiful Nassau, Bahamas.
I did not do the all-inclusive option as it was very
expensive.
Hotel: Melia Nassau Beach Hotel 4 star
Highlights: Everyday I ate at the "Fish
Fry" that was a 5 minute city bus ride away. The portions at the Fish Fry were insanely big and could be shared between two people. Otherwise, I bought fruit from the local store to have breakfast in
my room. The hotel was very nice, clean and on the beach which makes any vacation a million times better!
I had a chance to do a boat tour outside of Atlantis grounds which was beautiful. On a separate day, I also went out on a city tour which took us to the highest view point of the island and "The Queen's Staircase" which was very cool!
In August 2016, I was on a Carnival Cruise which stopped in Nassau,
Bahamas for one day. As I was with family, we explored the town and went to the local markets.
Food: 10/10 "Oh Andros" was my favorite fish fry restaurant! Make sure you try a conch salad or conch fritters as conch (pronounced konk) is the national food of the Bahamas.
Recommendations: Visit Atlantis grounds for a
day (if you are not staying there) as well as visit any of the tourist area outside of
it; which has boutiques, cafes, restaurants, ice cream shops and boat tours. Also check out any city tour !
Pros: The beach and tours are awesome!
The local food was delicious.
The city bus is cheap and safe.
The locals are friendly.
Cons: Everything on the island is expensive.
